Cellulite Therapy

Treating Cellulite with Acoustic Wave Therapy

Acoustic Wave Therapy, also known as AWT™, is a modern, highly effective treatment method characterized by the application of acoustic sound waves to the affected body regions. This innovative therapy method is chosen by an increasing number of women as a preventive treatment to reduce their susceptibility to cellulite or to reverse and eliminate visible signs of cellulite. In many cases, women start to feel softening and smoothing of the skin over the area treated in as little as 3-5 session, while visual changes start to become noticeable typically between 6-8 sessions. Today, Acoustic Wave Therapy is the anti-cellulite success formula used in over 500 therapy centres worldwide.

Cellulite - the fight for smooth skin

Cellulite only affects women owing to their genetic pre-disposition to the disorder. It typically appears on the thighs, buttocks and upper arms. The connective tissue is soft and elastic and exhibits a wide-meshed network of collagen fibres to enable stretching during pregnancy. An imbalance between fat production (lipogenesis) and fat breakdown (lipolysis) within the cells leads to the formation of large fat cells that are typical of cellulite. Owing to the widemeshed, soft structure of the connective tissue, these fat cells bulge upwards towards the surface of the skin, giving the skin the typical dimpled orange peel appearance.

Treating Cellulite with AWT - accoustic wave therapy

Successful cellulite therapy with AWT
What is AWT and why is it effective in cellulite treatment? Acoustic Wave Therapy uses acoustic sound waves which are generated in an application handpiece and gently introduced into the affected body regions. Acoustic waves have been used in medicine with great success since 1980 for the disintegration of kidney stones and since 1990 for the treatment of tendon and muscle disorders. Modern cellulite therapy applies acoustic sound waves to cellulite regions. Upon introduction into the body, the acoustic sound waves propagate over a large area and exert their stimulating and curative action in the skin layers. The results are:

- skin smoothing and rejuvenation
- breakdown of fat deposits
- connective tissue tightening and improved retention of fat cells in the subcutis
- reduced circumference of affected body regions

Measurable and visible results
A study conducted in Switzerland has shown a 110% improvement in skin elasticity in the female patients treated. All patients participating in the study were highly satisfied with the Acoustic Wave Therapy. Therapy procedure The scope of treatment and therapy procedure are discussed with the patient. Contact gel is applied to the therapy region to ensure that the acoustic sound waves are introduced into the body without energy loss. Treatment may be uncomfortable to some, but is non-invasive and has no known side effects.

Therapy duration and frequency
On average, each cellulite therapy session takes approx. 30-75 minutes depending on the number of areas treated. We recommend 8-14 sessions depending on severity, age and fitness level. We also suggest accompanying Acoustic Wave Therapy with 30 minutes of physical exercise per day, a low-fat diet high in fiber and a body detoxification program prior to starting your treatment to ensure rapid elimination of waste products.
